Insurance and You
Each year, more cars hit our roads and freeways. This could lead to an increased likelihood of a car accident for you and your family. If you get in a car crash, the car insurance you have can make a large difference in how much you have to pay. But why do you need insurance and just how much should you purchase? Mandated coverage varies by state/province but typically includes the following: Liability: This kind of insurance can pay for the damage that you have caused. These damages may include personal injury, and property damage. Bodily injury damages include medical fees, lost wages, and pain and suffering. Property damage includes damaged property or loss of property use. If you are sued, it also pays your legal fees. State laws typically require standard amounts, but larger amounts are available and usually recommended. Personal Injury Protection: Personal injury insurance is required in some states and is optional in others. It pays you or your passengers for medical treatment resulting from a crash, regardless of who may have been at fault, and is often called no-fault coverage. This insurance can also cover lost wages, replacement of services and funeral expenses. The minimum amount of personal injury protection is typically set by local government. Medical Payments: Medical payment coverage is available in states that are not considered no-fault and will pay no matter who is responsible for the accident. It pays for all insured person's reasonable medical and funeral expenses resulting from an accident. Collision: Pays for damage to your vehicle caused by a collision. Comprehensive: This kind of insurance covers all damages not caused by a collision. This may include hail damage, vandalism, and robbery. Uninsured Motorist: If you are in an accident with a driver without insurance or a hit-and-run driver, this type of insurance will make sure you are covered. Under-Insured Motorist: There are other drivers who have liability insurance that might not be able to cover all the expenses they are supposed to take care of. This type of insurance covers you from those drivers. Other policies, like emergency road service, are also available. Car Insurance Groveland
